Calshot RNLI boat crew attend to three injured Cowes week sailors

Calshot RNLI all weather lifeboat crew were called upon three times today (Thursday) to attend to injured yachtsmen during Cowes Week. In the first incident a crewman aboard a J80 class yacht received a serious head injury after an accident. He was treated aboard the boat by Calshot lifeboat’s Doctor and a Doctor aboard the yacht before being transferred to the Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue boat to airlifted to Southampton General Hospital.

At 11.52am on Wednesday 10 August, Yarmouth Coastguard requested the launch of Hunstanton lifeboat to a report of eight people out on the wreck sands at Brancaster and in danger of being cut off by the tide as it started to flow.

Wells-next-the-Sea’s all-weather lifeboat was called to rescue a Dutch barge whose engine had broken down in rough seas off Blakeney Point on the North Norfolk coast yesterday afternoon.

Poole RNLI inshore lifeboat launched this afternoon (Sunday July 31) to a vessel, an 18ft fletcher which was taking on water with four people onboard near to Aunt Betty buoy, which is the main cardinal buoy near to the fuel barge, just over halfway up Poole harbour .
