To celebrate the fact that Christmas Day marks exactly 100 days until the start of the 2013 John Smith’s Grand National festival, the venue is giving free pairs of tickets to the first 50 people who send an image of themselves in their finest Christmas outfits.

All pictures must be either posted on Aintree’s official Facebook page or sent via Twitter using the hash tag ‘#100daystogo’ and the winners will receive a confirmation letter before Christmas.

The three-day Grand National meeting begins on Thursday 4 April with Liverpool Day, followed the next day by Ladies Day and the showpiece Grand National on Saturday 6 April.

John Baker, managing director at Aintree Racecourse, said: “As the start of this year’s festival happens to fall exactly 100 days after Christmas Day, we thought it would be a nice idea to offer local people the chance to come along to Liverpool Day free of charge.

“Each year, the excitement begins to really build from January, so hopefully we can give some festive people the chance to look forward to the event of the year from the moment they open their Christmas gifts.

“Cloudy Lane, a veteran of Grand National festivals, and his stables are already in the festive mood and we can’t wait to see the pictures of elves, snowmen and Santas from across Merseyside.”
