This issue previewed the new Shannon Class and RNLI Exmouth then due to be the first station to receive the new boat. The issue also compared Exmouth to RNLI Aldeburgh and reviewed the two stations’ histories.

The Quiet Treehouse has been designed by Blue Forest Luxury Treehouses and will be donated for permanent use by Chestnut Tree House, the children’s hospice in Sussex
[London: March 10 2014] Kebony has been working with Blue Forest Luxury Treehouses, John Lewis and Quiet Mark to develop an ambitious tree home made from Kebony wood, the sustainable alternative to tropical hardwood. The Quiet Treehouse will appear at the Ideal Home Show from 14th – 30th March 2014 at London’s Earls Court.
The Minister of Antiquities, Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim, has announced the discovery of a rare wooden sarcophagus in the Dra’ Abulnaga Area, West Bank, Luxor. Dating back to the 17th Dynasty (1600 A.D), the Sarcophagus’ lid contains hieroglyphic inscriptions indicating the name of the sarcophagus’ owner, which remains in good condition inside.

Media are invited by London Transport Museum to witness a steam bus in Covent Garden Piazza on Friday 14 March at 11.30. The Enterprise steam bus will be visiting London Transport Museum before taking a starring role in this weekend’s (15 and 16 March) special Open Weekend at Acton Depot, in West London.
A 5th wedding anniversary is celebrated with a wooden gift. In keeping with this tradition, and in celebration of its 5th Anniversary, Clerkenwell Design Week is curating a special exhibition with OKAY Studio and the American Hardwood Export Council. Inspired by five American hardwood species and Clerkenwell’s 5th Anniversary, five design teams from OKAY Studio will work independently to produce an eclectic mix of innovative designs showcasing how versatile American hardwood can be. The five species are tulipwood, ash, hard maple, red oak and cherry, chosen to promote the diversity of colours and grains in these lesser-known American hardwood species. The designs for FIVE will be manufactured by Kent-based sculptor and fabricator, Adam Kershaw who is renowned for his craftsmanship and skill with wood.
Every so often, a book is published that will prove the definitive work on its subject. This is such a book and fully justifies its cover price, although Pen & Sword are famous for their discounts and special offers for on-line purchasers, so a real bargain is possible. The full cover price will not deter an enthusiast or a naval professional and copies are likely to fly off the shelf for private and professional libraries around the world. Hopefully, the readership will be even wider, because this is a book that covers naval anti-aircraft weaponry and systems comprehensively and with integrity.
