To coincide with the First World War centenary, IWM are publishing a new poetry anthology on 19 July, First World War Poems from the Front, edited by Paul O’Prey.
The book features fifteen poets who all saw service during the war, including Wilfred Owen, Mary Borden and Ivor Gurney. It also features Robert Graves, who Paul spent a number of years working alongside.
Poems include ‘November 11th’ by Graves, appearing for the first time as a poem in its own right, and three poems by the American nurse Mary Borden that are published for the first time, having only previously existed in handwritten drafts.
A superb collection. Fresh, surprising and very moving – the most insightful anthology of the war I’ve read.
