Celebrating music, literature and the arts, the 45th annual Windsor Festival will host a series of twelve walks and tours around Windsor’s finest venues. The highly respected festival will be located within and around the grounds of Windsor Castle, by kind permission of Her Majesty The Queen, and will take place from 15th September – 28th September 2014.
Windsor Festival’s walks and tours, offer visitors a unique chance to go behind the scenes and gain insight into the enchanting Windsor Castle and its surroundings. Unveiling some of Windsor’s best kept secrets, the walks and tours will be an interactive, exciting and unforgettable part of this year’s Festival programme. From ghost tours to historical and humorous walks, highlights include:
Ghost tour, High Spirits, will be taking place on Wednesday, 17th September at 19:00. Join Griselda Slugpellet and her ghoulish phantom friends on a walk around tour whilst marveling at tales of ghostly sightings, hairy hauntings and beastly burials. Based on authentic findings, this tour is bound to leave you with a smile on your face.
Enjoy a collection of intrepid tales recounted by the merry monarch Charles II and his royal cousin Rupert of the Rhine, in Rupert and Charles go mad in Windsor, on Saturday 20th September at 19:00. While strolling through the Festival streets, hear about their antics during and after the Civil War inside and outside the Castle.
Follow in the footsteps of a host of colourful characters whose unconventional behavior made them prime candidates for this humorous walk. The Wayward Women of Windsor, taking place on Monday, 22nd September at 19:00, will let you in on the stories, scandals and secrecy of the Merry Wives Mistresses, Ford and Page and the flirtatious Nell Gwynn.
