Meet Barefoot and Teardrop Caravans at the show

Visitors to The Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show, NEC Birmingham (23-28 Feb 2016) will be treated to stylish, modern caravans which are small in size, but big on comfort.

Barefoot Caravan is the brainchild of businesswoman Cathy Chamberlain who decided to create her own unique vehicle after a failed search for a compact, elegant caravan which would not compromise on space and creature comforts. With the help of British designers from the Automotive and Transport Design course at Coventry University, they created a ‘50s-inspired curved caravan. The Barefoot is hand-built in the UK, and fitted to high standards by Auto-Sleepers.

With an overall length just a whisker over 5m, Barefoot Caravan’s curvy fibreglass body packs in a bathroom with shower, seating which converts into a 6ft x 6ft bed, wardrobe, cupboards and stylish kitchen with solid oak tops. The icing on the cake is the variety of seat upholstery selections, in a range of vibrant trim colours.

More hand-built mini caravan choice comes from Teardrop Caravans. Their retro shape is inspired by the original lightweight travel trailers of the ‘30s. Teardrop Caravans’ streamlined body and diminutive size makes them perfect for towing even by small city cars. Although very compact, they have a sleeping area for two adults, compartments and shelves for storage, and space for a gas cooker/stove.

As it is often the case in an industry producing hand-built vehicles, the 300kg Teardrop Caravan can be customised by the buyer and made to any specifications with rear/side kitchen options, mattresses, awnings, and foldable or pop-up toilets.

To see these vehicles yourself come along to the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show at the Birmingham NEC from 23-28 February with displays from leading UK and European manufacturers all under one roof.

Also appearing at the show is leading wildlife TV presenter Chris Packham as a guest of Camping in the Forest; TV and radio star Matt Baker as a guest on Caravan Club Day; ITV’s Charlotte Hawkins; TV presenter and President of The Camping and Caravanning Club, Julia Bradbury; adventurers Andy Torbet and Sean Conway, and celebrity chefs Aldo Zilli, Glynn Purnell, Ed Baines and Paul Da Costa-Greaves.

More than 86,000 outdoor lovers attended the show last year, and at this year’s show you can browse over 350 exhibitor stands. But that’s not all, there is fun for all the family in the Dog Agility Arena with Britain’s Got Talent winners Ashleigh and Pudsey, a Guinness World Record LEGO® brick caravan and new this year, the Glamping Village, brought to you by ‘Visit Pembrokeshire’, where you can plan that next luxury weekend away. There is also a themed activity area supported by the Woodland Trust, with an opportunity for children to become Nature Detectives, along with caravan towing and motorhome manoeuvring lessons. The show is supported by The Caravan Club and The Camping and Caravanning Club.
