Villa Circuitus sets a new precedent for high quality sustainable design
[London: 29 March 2016] Developers Simone Kreutzer and Tommy Wesslund have recently completed work on an eco-home in Sweden, clad in Kebony. Villa Circuitus, meaning ‘a going around’ in Latin, is a spacious, circular 175 sq. m passive house containing four bedrooms and open plan kitchen and dining area.
Political Wings, William Wedgwood Benn, First Viscount Stansgate
DESCRIPTION: This is a fascinating book about a fascinating subject. First Viscount Stansgate was to become the head of a political dynasty that has been most famous for his son, who renounced the title to enable him to remain as an MP, Tony Benn. Quite why William Wedgwood Benn has received little recognition is one of life’s mysteries, but the author has done a good job of correcting this omission. Fascinating.
Images of War SPECIAL, T-34, The Red Army’s Legendary Medium Tank
This is a ‘special’ edition within the well-established IoW series of photo essays. It broadly follows the series standards, but contains more text than usual, together with an excellent photo collection and some coloured drawings. Highly recommended.
Images of War, Hitler’s Light Panzers at War, Rare Photographs from Wartime Archives
This photo essay produces a very effective picture of the light tanks that formed the backbone of the German armoured units at the start of WWII. Highly recommended.

Images of War, Combined Round the Clock Bombing Offensives, Attacking Nazi Germany, Rare Photographs from Wartime Archives
This photo essay produces a very effective picture of the massive bombing offensive against Germany. The scale of the operation was unprecedented. England was covered with new airfields, from which the enormous fleets of RAF and USAAF bombers set off on their raids. In much of Eastern England there was an airfield every seven miles, and even closer in some areas. Highly recommended.
Images of War, The Rise of Hitler, Rare Photographs from Wartime Archives
This is a photo essay of the rise of Hitler, including images of him before he reached power in Germany. The story runs up to Hitler’s replacement of Mussolini as the leading European Fascist and the defeat of Britain and France in the negotiations in Munich. This book fits very nicely with “With Hitler in the West”, when the dominance achieved by Hitler in peace was translated into superiority in war, cementing the peacetime expansion of Germany under the Nazis. Most recommended.
With Hitler in the West
This photo essay of the Third Reich at the height of its power has been judged the finest work of Heinrich Hoffman and its presentation now as a translated edition is very valuable. Most recommended.
