EELUS: 10A — A DECADE WITH THE BLADE
Bringing together elements of sci-fi, fantasy and horror seen in film, comic books and pop culture of his own generation, Eelus’s paintings and assemblages are also informed by 18th and 19th century artists like William Blake and Aubrey Beardsley (rebellious and revolutionary in their time) and how their works express the erotic, the macabre and the inescapable forces of nature. Themes of love, loss, truth, lies and the fear and excitement of the unknown are cut through his intricate works with the patient and skilful handling of his scalpel.

The People’s Jubilee, A Nation Celebrates
When a book title starts with “The People’s” some readers will be put off because of the association with politicians of low repute. However, this book can justify the prefix. Although the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee was very much about the elebration of an extraordinary period of service by one woman to her nation, and at a time of enormous social and political change, it fired the enthusiasm of the people in a way that many commentators had assumed was long extinct.
The captions to the photographs are well written and each section of photographs is introduced with concise text that ably sets the scene for the section following it. The publisher has provided layout and production that fully complements the content. This should be a book that sells strongly around the world and one which will be treasured by those who own it.
Winged Warriors, The Cold War From The Cockpit
This book provides a very valuable insight into a period of history that has still to be adequately discovered in print. With the WWII aircrew rapidly fading into history, it should be a timely reminder that the Cold War Warriors are not growing any younger and their perspectives need to be recorded in print before it is too late. Some of the early years of the Cold War are already beyond adequate first hand accounts. The scale of war was as great as that of WWII and continued for a much longer period.
